Nutrition
NUTRITION
I have to admit that this was a subject that I never thought I would be interested in learning more about than just the basics. If anyone ever asked me questions about nutrition, it was easier to just refer him or her to a nutrition professional for answers. This attitude had been with me for many years…..until I took my last two courses for my BS degree this past Spring. One of those courses was “Practical Application of Sports Nutrition” – I was not looking forward to a long 8 weeks of learning about this specific subject area. Well, this book changed my attitude completely! So much so, that before the class was over, I had already purchased another textbook that covered advanced information about sports nutrition. I am literally “eating up” the knowledge and information (no pun intended!)!
The purpose of the following series of articles is actually two-fold:
- I want to provide anyone who reads my articles with the same information and knowledge I now have in the hopes that it will help them lead and healthier and happier life – because I now know, to an even greater degree than ever before, how important our nutrition is to our health, as well as to our daily function.
- Help me learn and retain the knowledge – If I have to write about this stuff, I will remember it better. Yeah, I know – selfish of me!
Now, remember, I am not a nutrition professional. I would still need to refer people to such a person for most situations. But, I am able to provide general facts about nutrition that apply to health and function for everyone.
Ever heard the phrase, “You are what you eat”? Well, believe it – it IS true!!!
Hopefully, the following articles will help you understand the importance of proper nutrition and convince you to do what it takes to make the necessary (unless you are already on the right path) changes, additions or deletions to your current diet. What you eat can either provide energy or drive you down. It can either help your body be healthy and look good or take your health away. Food can either help you feel good (physically, emotionally and mentally) or it can make you feel bad, sometimes very bad. You have a choice!
Remember – One Body, One Life, One Choice!
